We employ non-fungible tokens, often play to earn NFT, to signify ownership of particular assets. An NFT games play to earn can be created using digital artwork and audio and video samples. What harm did these NFTs cause to gaming, then?

A new type of gaming known as “play-to-earn games” has emerged due to the introduction of NFTs into the gaming industry (P2E). The in-game items, winnings, and even the game’s setting can all be turned into NFTs gaming in a play to earn NFT by tokenizing them. In a conventional gaming setting, all the items the player purchased during the game will be rendered useless as soon as it ends.

However, this flaw is entirely closed up with the introduction of NFT play to earn.

The play-to-earn games’ assets are tokenized, so each player owns their own. In addition, he or she benefits from receiving royalties each time the asset is sold again. How to Make an NFT Game?

How to Make an NFT Game

Even if you don’t actively pursue NFTs, you have undoubtedly already heard of them. Regardless of the amount of interest, popular trends frequently permeate all areas of the information space and capture everyone’s attention. However, the fact that you are reading this post indicates that you are undoubtedly interested in learning more about NFT and how to create an NFT game.

Numerous industries employ NFTs. 38 NFT creations were included in a digital art exhibition that the Hermitage hosted in 2021. The NFT token from Jack Dorsey’s initial tweet, which launched Twitter, was sold for $2.9 million. For his NFT artwork, artist Mike Winkelmann got a record-breaking $69 million.

What are NFTs?

Infusible Token is referred to as NFT. NFTs emerged as a result of the creation of the blockchain, just like cryptocurrencies. But unlike, say, Bitcoin, every NFT is distinct and has a separate value. This is not the case with NFT if one traditional cryptocurrency unit is identical to another like one (for instance, one Ethereum is identical to another and totally transferable without losing value). Let’s start with the NFT ecosystem, or the blockchain, to better grasp this.

What Are NFT Games?

NFT games are blockchain-based entertainment items that include non-fungible tokens, which are digital objects. NFT technology can be employed in video games to draw in funding. Any in-game object can have a token created, purchased, or sold by players, helping to support the creator. For instance, skins, artifacts, weapons, and other game elements can be tokenized using NFTs.

In NFT games, players access game resources that have been mathematically certified. It is simple to figure out who owns the gaming equipment. Many NFT games are gaining in popularity as they enable players to play and earn.

1. Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity is one of the popular NFT games in the Pokémon style. Games feature imaginary creatures called Axies. You can play the game on a computer, an Android device, or an iOS device.

The NFTs used in this game were constructed in line with the ERC-721 standard. The Ethereum standard for NFTs is ERC-721. The ERC-20 token standard was used in the development of the “Axie Infinity Shard” (AXS) which is the governance token of the game.

Gamers can exchange the NFTs they gain in this game on the popular Ethereum NFT exchanges. Players also earn a good amount by playing in this amazing game.  It was created on the Ethereum blockchain.

2. Cryptokitties

CryptoKitties is a blockchain-based game that allows players to breed virtual cats. These virtual cats are used as game assets and these are NFTs.

The Ethereum blockchain platform was used in the creation of this game. It was unveiled in November 2017, and soon it gained popularity. Players are required to buy virtual pets using ether, the native currency of Ethereum

The game instantly attracted more players. At the start of 2018, the game had 1.5 million users. There was $40 million worth of transactions at that time. A number of the virtual cats earned more than $300,000 each at auction.

3. Cryptopunks

CryptoPunks was one of the first NFT games. The creator of this game introduced it in June 2017. They used the Ethereum blockchain platform to develop this.

Over 10,000 different collectible digital “avatars” are offered in the game. They were created as NFTs by the CryptoPunks developers.  The Ethereum project team was inspired by CryptoPunks to build the ERC-721 NFT standard. For these virtual “avatars,” thousands of dollars were traded at a time.

4. Gods Unchained

Gods Unchained is a well-known NFT-based game. It’s an online trading card game. Players can make money by playing this.

The developers of the game were announced in 2018. They developed it using the Ethereum blockchain network. In actuality, “Immutable X” is used to mint the game assets for this game. It is a layer 2-based Ethereum network.

The developers of the GODS token, the game’s native cryptographic token, will make it accessible. The game’s developers have used the ERC-20 standard to create this token.

It enables players to use the GODS token as payment for rare trade cards. They will also have access to internet markets where they may purchase and sell them, such as Coinlist.

5. Sandbox

Sandbox is a well-known blockchain-based game and you can also consider it a virtual universe. The game’s creators developed it using the Ethereum network. NFTs serve as the assets of the game.

The ecosystem of the sandbox enables players to build and produce game items. Users can create their own games using a “Game Maker” interface. Finally, players can exchange video game items in the Sandbox market section.

How to Create an NFT Game: Preparation Stage

What role does NFT play in the gaming world? Developers write smart contracts with the rules for using such tokens in order to create NFTs and use them in the game. Let’s now discuss how to make an NFT game in more detail.

Game Model

NFT games can be categorized into two main categories:

  • P2E (play-to-earn): Players must acquire their first NFT before they may begin playing. There is a chance to recoup the investment in the future. The majority of P2E games allow players to purchase NFTs that represent characters, perks, or power-ups as well as win so-called utility tokens.
  • F2P (free-to-play): There are significantly fewer such games, but they don’t require any initial costs – you can start playing right away. In this case, the possible income will be lower. Such games may not include utility tokens.

Design for Your Game

Select the genre of the future game. The NFT game is not some scary beast that exists in another reality. This is the same game as the others but with its own characteristics. So strategy, combat, adventure, simulation, role-playing, or card games – all options are available. After choosing a genre, it is important to conduct a competitive analysis. Find similar games on the blockchain and beyond. Do not mindlessly copy successful games – take the most interesting features and fuse your idea with them. Of course, game art is an absolutely creative field, and you are free to do whatever you want there. But note one thing for yourself.

To avoid the risks and huge investments in an untested concept, start with a simpler graphic option. Later, after getting your hands on it and understanding the specifics of NFT games, you will be able to move on to games with a more advanced level of art.

Web or Mobile

Applications built on blockchain technologies are called dApps – decentralized applications. The main code and data (backend) of a decentralized application are stored and executed on the peer-to-peer blockchain, unlike client-server applications, whose data and code are processed on servers. In fact, all cryptocurrencies are already variants of decentralized applications. But usually, they are considered the basic foundation of the blockchain, on top of which a variety of decentralized applications already work. Decentralized applications are usually open-source.

The next question to ask is how do you want your users to interact with the game. Through a web browser or mobile app?

Both options are valid. The web application is universal and can be launched from any device, from a computer to a smartphone, anywhere in the world. On the other hand, a mobile app will run much faster on smartphones and may have many more features. Therefore, its development is often more expensive.

Suitable Technology

To get your feet on the ground in NFT, take advantage of open source. For example, you can go to GitHub and find both ready-made games and templates for NFT games that you can manipulate to better understand the specifics of such games.

If GitHub is Greek to you, then pave the way for the initial orientation in it. You will definitely need it in the future. This is the most famous project and code version management system.

One of the most common dApp development ecosystems is Truffle Suite. It is the leading smart contract development environment. Truffle tools are used by well-known companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, and VMWare. Truffle Suite provides blockchain developers with a standardized testing environment and asset pipeline to create high-quality and reliable smart contracts.

Another dApps development platform is Moralis, which has an infinitely scalable server infrastructure and is able to remove the biggest obstacles in dApp development. The platform provides you with a fully managed back-end infrastructure. This means that you, as a developer, can focus on developing the front end and the main user interface.

The Front-End Stage

As frameworks, React and Vue can be good options. Angular, with its huge API, may seem too complicated for beginners. Truffle Suite was originally built to connect to React, but as of 2019 they also offer a Vue plugin.

The front end can be hosted on Netlify. It is one of the most advanced web development platforms that helps programmers publish projects online. It is ideal for small teams or solo developers who are not able to create the infrastructure for their resources on their own, but still want to put their product on the Internet. Besides, it’s free.

The Wallet

Unlike ordinary money, cryptocurrency is not stored in a real or virtual wallet, it is located directly in the blockchain ecosystem. A crypto wallet is a special software or hardware that allows you to store digital currency, as well as perform various operations with it.

Any crypto wallet should have a high level of security. To select a suitable wallet, you first need to go to the website of the cryptocurrency you are going to store and familiarize yourself with the list of recommended applications. Every secure wallet must meet the following requirements:

  • have private and public keys;
  • have several levels of security.

Smart Contract

We have already mentioned that smart contracts are programs stored on the blockchain that run when predetermined conditions are met. If users want to access their NFT, it goes like this:

1. The front end receives the user’s address from the crypto wallet.

2. The front end sends the user’s address to the smart contract.

3. The smart contract gives the user the NFT address owned by the given user.

To work with a smart contract, you can use the official Ethereum blockchain library called Web3.js. Web3 allows you to abstract from the internal mechanics of Ethereum and work with the network and smart contracts as if they were ordinary JavaScript objects.

The Solidity programming language is used to write smart contracts. Solidity is a Turing-complete language, which means you can create complex contracts in a well-defined code format.

The Back-End Stage

So, we have already determined that the smart contract deals with the URL of the desired NFT. With this address, the front end makes a request to the backend to get the metadata for this NFT. The backend sends metadata to the front end. They include the name of the NFT, its address, and its identifier. After receiving this data, the front end can send another request to the server with the NFT URL. The interface can then display the available data and the user can see their NFT’s name and image.

For the backend, you can use node.js. It is a software platform that translates JavaScript into machine code that runs on the server side. So JavaScript can be used to build the backend.

The Testing Stage

To test your NFT game, you can use special test blockchains like Rinkeby. Ganache by Truffle makes it easy to create a mock blockchain. The types of blockchain game testing can be as follows:

  • Functional testing. This is a test of the overall functioning of the game, data transfer, block, and chain sizes to evaluate requirements, processes, etc.
  • Security testing. This is mandatory to check for any threats to the blockchain system.
  • UI testing. It’s important to make sure the game’s workflow and functionality are working properly and to test fonts, colors, graphics, and more for a great user experience.
  • Integration testing. This is a test of interconnection between different software components.
  • API testing. The bottom line is to check the communication of software components with an external API to make sure that the request and response are correctly processed by the system.

Conclusion

Now you have a general idea of how to make an NFT game. In this case, it is important not to get carried away with the number of NFT assets, but to think about what value they represent for the players. Will players want to buy them and what will be their motivation?

If you want to keep up with the trends, but have no idea what NFT features can be offered to jaded players.

9 Strategies You Can Use to Promote NFT Games

Since we think that a good promotional strategy should ideally seek to inform and excite the interests of both experienced gamers and those who are just getting started, we’re here with 9 ways you can promote your NFT games.

Why Is A Professional Needed To Promote NFTs?

Many people in the current situation are still unable to comprehend NFTs and similar concepts. Through various marketing strategies, it is crucial to convey the significance to them. There are many methods for reaching out to your target market, customers, and those who are still unaware of this in marketing as well.

Additionally, there are several reasons why promoting NFT is far more crucial than promoting any other product. The value of your NFT depends on how many people are talking about it or would like to invest in it. There are other cryptocurrencies or investment choices. By increasing buzz, you may turn your NFT from a simple piece of virtual art into a fully functional money-making machine. Therefore, we advise you to advertise your tokens using the top NFT marketing firms (non-fungible tokens).

Reasons you need professionals for promotion –

  • Make hype of your NFTs, which results in increased demand.
  • Use higher demand to appeal to higher prices for your tokens
  • Empower your image as an NFT artist

Now, let’s check out some of the best ways to advertise nft:

1. Promote NFT project before the launch

With the use of marketing, keep your audience updated about your new or existing products. It may also be a tactic for speaking with clients and learning what they enjoy.

The importance of sticking out from the crowd has grown with the introduction of NFTs. Owners’ NFT must be made public knowledge. A company’s reputation can be improved with the aid of NFT promotion and marketing by strengthening ties with its target audience. By beginning this process far before your product is released, you can be sure you have a waiting list of players anxious to try it out.

2. Provide exclusive drops in your game’s community

The community is among the most attractive aspects of a successful NFT collection. Some NFTs serve as a community pass or membership that grants owners unique access to an online social community or upmarket features like limited-edition releases.

Another strategy for starting your group on Facebook is to create a unique group. Use the resources our platform provides, including live streaming, targeted audience selection, and advanced posting options. You will be able to promote your NFT game easily if you have a strong connection and a link to your audience across all of your social media channels.

3. Join other communities

Discord is THE gaming community, and cryptocurrency artists are now using it as well. Fans and collectors of NFT may be found in several Discord groups. There are a number of these groups that you may join for information on all things NFTs, even though some of them are private.

Do you wish to join several platforms or are you unsure about Discord? Users can vote on Reddit, a community-driven website and application for sharing content. A piece of content moves up in the Reddit rankings and becomes more visible if it earns a lot of votes. On websites like Reddit, which has a large subscriber base, you can showcase your work in threads for the artist community.

4. Use social media

If you want to sell your NFT games! The only thing left to do is generate buzz by constantly connecting with your fans if you already have a sizable social media following. You can accomplish this by, among other things, organizing AMA sessions, contests, and giveaways.

Additionally, think about advertising your funded adverts on well-known pay-per-click websites like Twitter and Facebook Ads. Make sure your advertising is SEO-optimized, and use keyword tools to enhance their appeal.

5. Influencer marketing

The easiest way to get NFT influencers is just to involve them right away in the advertising of your NFT game. Even though they may request cryptocurrency payments, NFT influencers are typically early adopters and most of them aren’t just wanting to make a quick buck. These influencers only promote NFT projects that they have been actively involved in from the beginning.

Early consultation and discussion of the NFT plan with influencers are advised for business. An excellent concept is to involve numerous influencers in different project phases. For instance, use NFT influencers to raise interest in the project early on, and then re-engage them for brand recall as the launch date approaches.

6. Try giveaways and discount codes

Pre-sale social media marketing strategies sometimes involve holding an NFT giveaway as a portion of an upcoming collection. Giving away products in this manner, as by utilizing “follow-tag-share/retweet” or holding a fan art competition, heightens the hype surrounding the NFT game, boosts engagement across your followers, and enhances visibility to new audiences.

Attempt to involve influencers in your giveaway. They frequently run contests where the rules are as follows: anyone interested in entering must follow them on the platform, tag a friend in the comments, share the post on Instagram Stories or retweet, and leave a comment. The sharing of a discount coupon by influencers on their networks might also motivate their audience to purchase out of a sense of urgency.

7. Release sneak peeks

To spark your audience’s curiosity and create anticipation, your social media material should include sneak peeks of impending releases. Users will be inspired to participate in discussions or share your posts if you use viral content and cross-promotional tactics in your innovative and interesting content. Offering VIP early access to NFTs before the game’s formal debut or official release is another way to persuade your viewers to join your communities.

8. In-game advertising

In-game advertising provides ad space among mobile games as a means of revenue. Advertising to players may be quite interactive and interesting with in-game advertisements. These commercials might be included right into the game by offering rewards for watching video ads or by looking like standard banner ads only at bottom of the game. The best in-game advertising strategy combines a rewarding user experience with rewards. By providing valuable prizes to your players, you may maintain their attention over an extended length of time and entice them to play your game again.

9. Use email marketing and newsletters

You can communicate with your target audience, potential customers, sponsors, and buyers through email marketing. Sending pertinent newsletters, press releases, announcements, and other material fosters loyalty and improves brand reputation. You can also embed assets like a business card with QR code in your emails or welcome series to make it easy for recipients to save your contact details or access your NFT game directly.

Identify your target market and learn where they spend the majority of their time. Gather their email addresses afterward by running campaigns, holding competitions, and more. Make sure your audience understands that they are giving their agreement to share personal email and get marketing materials. Next, focus on compelling email design that highlights your game’s unique value and write engaging, useful newsletters to regularly distribute. Your members receive customized communication based on their preferences and tastes. You might also get your newsletters added to the mailing lists of well-known NFT magazines.

Conclusion

Many people in the current situation are still unable to comprehend NFTs and similar concepts. Through various marketing strategies, it is crucial to convey the significance to them. Your NFT marketing plan is as important to the success of your game as it is to the growth of a new nft game marketing strategy. More than just a few arbitrarily chosen ad sets are required for effective NFT marketing; you also need capable NFT marketing specialists to keep up with your rivals.

In many ways, promoting NFT is more significant than marketing any other product. The value of your NFT is dependent on how many people talk about it or desire to invest in it. There are numerous cryptocurrencies and various investment opportunities. Therefore, we advise using the top NFT marketing firms to advertise your tokens (non-fungible tokens).

How to Create an NFT Game: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Create an NFT Game A Step-by-Step Guide

You must be familiar with non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Transaction processing, which is dependent on blockchain technology, has already achieved success in several specialized areas. Particularly, it has changed how much money NFT games make. Until the start of last year, the NFT-based transaction volume had already surpassed $10.67 billion, according to a DapRadar analysis. For a game production company, NFT Games opened up a world of possibilities for marketing its intellectual and creative rights safely and securely. For those who want how to create an NFT game? Here, we’ll walk you through the multiple steps involved in the making of an NFT game. But first, let’s explore NFT and find out how NFT games function.

The Non-Fungible Token, or NFT, is nothing more than a cryptographic token built on blockchain technology. These tokens serve as a stand-in for specific and unique digital items, such as gaming characters, unique digital artwork, different credentials, and in-game aesthetic components.

NFTs are used by players of these games to sell the Unique game characters and receive prizes from the game developers. NFT Games made a substantial contribution to the “pay as you earn” movement in the gaming sector. Let’s check out a clear step-by-step tutorial for creating an NFT game and some more details about it.

NFT Game Model’s

There are two types of models you can use to create an NFT game, and both come with their features and services:-

P2E (Play-to-earn):-  The highest conversion ratio is seen in this model. This methodology allows NFT games to only employ their coin as a form of player compensation. Players will receive a set number of coins, but they cannot be traded on the open market.

F2P (Free-to-play):- The fact that the coins may be traded on the market makes this model superior to P2E in the eyes of NFT game players. In contrast, players in this model play with their earned NFT coins and are rewarded through the game itself.

A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Create an NFT Game

Step 1: Have a great NFT game idea

Start by concentrating on the type of NFT game you want to develop. This would benefit you. Find out which models are best for the type of game you want to create. To capture the interest of your intended player audience, research several comparable games and then create something more captivating and original.

Step 2: Accommodate creative design.

You must make room for imaginative game characters & game skin designs because NFT games are known for employing NFT to depict innovative and artistic game features and characters in commercial usage. The 2D or 3D graphical artists on the game development and design team have to be knowledgeable and skillful.

Step 3: Decision between the Web App or Mobile App

It’s time to decide what kind of platform you want to use to construct your game now. Which would you want to design, a web app or maybe a mobile app? What must be decided in this situation? Remember that all sides have advantages and disadvantages.

Your NFT game would be available to more players without restrictions on time, location, or device if you built it as a web app. Web apps are also able to play games online without having to download them.

On the other hand, you can guarantee a more engaged custom mobile-specific user experience & features by developing a mobile NFT gaming app. You have a lot of options when using mobile platforms to provide a more interesting and engaging gaming experience. However, building two distinct apps, including Android and iOS, is required for mobile apps, which results in greater development expenses.

Step 4: Decide the appropriate tech stack

The correct tech stack and skilled developers are the two main factors that determine an app’s success. It is impossible to construct an NFT game in any other way. You must pick the appropriate frontend, backend, wallet, as well as smart contract technology to develop a high-performance NFT game.

For NFT game apps, some of the tried-and-true technologies are Unity3d, ASP.NET Core, C#, MySQL, MongoDB, Truffle Suite, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and several others. Depending on your target platforms, you can also use a range of OS, including iOS, Android, Web, Windows, Linux, macOS, and so on.

Step 5: Frontend development

For front-end development, both JavaScript and TypeScript can be used to develop the NFT app’s front end. ReactJS, VueJS, is your best available framework option for front-end development. Angular is viewed as a poor front-end option by many developers due to its complexity.

Step 6: Integrate a Wallet

The NFT application project requires a wallet address to be included for authentication and login purposes. You’ll be able to store tokens conveniently and safely online thanks to this.

Step 7: Establishing communication with Smart contract

The front end must take the user address from either the wallet & then pass it to the Smart Contract in order to give the NFT URL to the users. Use the well-known Web library to establish communication between Blockchain-based Smart Contracts. Transactions can also be tailored using this library based on users.

All of the fundamental guidelines, obligations, & roles of NFT Games are normally defined through smart contracts. On the Ethereum Blockchain, smart contracts use programming languages like Vyper, Solidity, Yul, and so on. The majority of NFT game creators utilize Solidity, a language that is quite similar to JavaScript, to code the Smart Contracts. Python-proficient programmers may want to use Vyper as their language of choice.

Developers with less experience should always adhere to well-known languages like Solidify because this aspect of development calls for some prior experience as well as project exposure. They can simply access numerous educational resources on GitHub as well as other platforms thanks to such a well-liked option. Finally, Yul is appropriate for seasoned engineers who have been working on smart contract projects for a while.

Step 8: Backend Development

An NFT game app project requires extensive back-end programming because SmartContract would only make requests again for NFT URLs. After all, storing the complete NFT with its extensive metadata would be too laborious. The metadata needed to request the Smart Contract in more detail is provided by the NFT gaming app’s backend.

Since Blockchain database technology is used by NFT game apps, keeping centralized data access through the backend of the app will negate the main advantages of this decentralized database technology. Many NFT apps employ a technology called Chainlink to ensure a seamless connection between both the data off Blockchain and the data on Blockchain.

Because of its scalability, compact size, and expressive code, Node.js is a fantastic option for such a back-end programming language. NodeJS is already regarded as a strong and reliable backend development framework.

Step 9: Testing the game

You have to use the right tool to test your or any NFT gaming app. Several great tools are available to assess the NFT game app. The Rinkeby or Ropsten Testnet is available for app testing. For testing purposes, some developers also favor building a mimic blockchain. Some use Ganache for developing, a tool provided by Truffle, specifically for this function.

The types of blockchain game testing can be as follows:

Functional testing: This is a test of the game’s general functionality, data transfer, block and chain sizes, and other factors in order to assess requirements, processes, etc.

Security testing: To look for any dangers to the blockchain system, this is a requirement.

UI testing: To ensure a fantastic user experience, it’s crucial to test fonts, colors, graphics, and other elements of the game’s functioning and workflow.

Integration testing: This is a test of how well various software components communicate with one another.

API testing: The key is to ensure that software components are properly communicating with an external API and that the system is correctly processing the request and answer.

Step 10: Deploy the game and reach out to a wider audience.

Finally, Your NFT game is set to launch in the market and is ready to be released after being conceived, produced, and tested. There is a brief stage of mainnet preparation left before the launch of the NFT game. It’s advised to take your time testing & deploying the game. Check for security flaws and remain vigilant for them.

Future of NFT gaming

The future of NFT gaming is promising! There will be an increase in the number of blockchain NFT platforms available, and more games will be created using these new tech platforms. According to the analysis, the play-to-earn non-fungible token (NFT) game market would be worth $2.8 billion between 2022 and 2028. Furthermore, throughout the same six-year period, the industry’s compound annual growth rate was 20.4%.

Wrapping Up

That’s it, it is my take on how to create an NFT game, The marketplace for NFT games already has established its position as a niche one, providing game developers with tremendous opportunities. NFTs have made it possible for game projects to concentrate more on promoting unique and innovative gameplay, characters, and design components. However, it is crucial to first keep to the path of tried-and-true development procedures to realize the benefits of NFT. This detailed guide was created expressly to analyze and address this.

What are NFT Games and How Do They Work?

What are NFT Games and How Do They Work

Are you interested in playing a game that can help you earn money too? The NFT games are here.  An NFT gaming market is more than buying non-fungible tokens and saving them on your digital crypto wallet. When it comes to features, NFT games have it all, player interactions and transactions of characters or avatars. Players can now make money in the form of NFT tokens. In this blog, we will learn about NFTs in gaming, their financial aspect, genres, top NFT games and much more.

Understanding NFTs in gaming

Crypto money is similar to a digital wallet, where instead of money, you can store crypto. To simplify this further, crypto is a form of currency. Unique cryptographic tokens are used to play these games. Additionally, each NFT has an internal metadata system. Like an authenticated certificate, the metadata stored inside the NFT specifies what it stands for, its history, and the transaction record.

NFT gaming differs from traditional gaming. Here, crypto money can also be used in the marketplace. To participate in a game, a participant must first register an account. It appears on a digital platform or mobile app. Installing an NFT wallet utilised in a game and having cryptocurrency wallets is required.

The financial aspect of NFT gaming

Here is how an NFT game functions financially. Its economy is based on in-game asset purchases, unlike traditional game monetisation, which involves users purchasing games or watching advertisements.

Players frequently need to purchase some gaming NFT assets to begin playing an NFT game. Additionally, game creators have listed in-game items for purchase on a marketplace. Further, game developers charge a fee for every platform transaction. There is an actual NFT marketplace for games where you can play your heart out and earn money.

What are In-game NFTs?

One method of earning money via NFT games is through in-game NFTs. Using this gameplay mechanic has been the standard way to make money off NFT games for many years. The worth of an item in the game will vary greatly depending on its aesthetic qualities, rarity, or function.

Gaming NFTs & How They Are Creating New Value for Video Games

Gaming NFTs & How They Are Creating New Value for Video Games (1)

NFTs got attention by creating hype and riding the trend wave. Although everybody knows about NFTs, many people imagine NFTs like cryptocurrency’s not-so-smart little brother.

In reality, NFTs have the power to disrupt the world as much as any crypto asset. Unlike bitcoin, where you can exchange almost any bitcoin for another, an NFT is unique and as the acronym states, “non-fungible”.

To put it simply, bitcoin is like the $10 bills in your wallet — you don’t care which bill you have as long as you have it in your pocket. NFTs are like having a Mona Lisa in your house. There’s only one original, and you do care which version you have.

NFTs are finding their practicality in many industries. At Arianee, we take real assets and give them a digital identity, also utilizing NFT technology. And even though we personally haven’t touched the world of gaming yet, imagine if proof of ownership of a physical object could open up unique in-game experiences! You own a collectible, that give you special powerups. You own a particular pair of shoes, well, you can now wear them in-game. But we’ll get to all this later..

Here are some of the leading gaming projects incorporating blockchain technology and NFTs and how they are changing the world of the NFT gaming marketplace.

Axie Infinity

As the pandemic hit the world in 2020, many people found themselves locked inside their homes without jobs.

In the Philippines, people found a way to deal with both issues simultaneously by playing Axie Infinity.

Axie Infinity is your regular trading and battling game. Imagine Pokemon, but add blockchain to the mix. Players can collect, raise, battle, and trade creatures called “axies.”

But while in the Pokemon game, each creature is nothing more but a digital code made to look cute, in Axie Infinity, each monster is also an NFT.

So let’s say you breed a rare axie that’s one of its kind. It isn’t Mona Lisa, but you can still fetch a reasonable price for the NFT. Considering the “Genesis” virtual land in Axie Infinity got sold for $1.5 million, the fire-spitting monster you own might be worth something in the future.

Finally, in the little economy of Axie Infinity, you can battle your NFT monsters and earn Small Love Potions (SLP). SLP are necessary to breed your axies and is a fungible token you can trade on any exchange where the token is available.

Decentraland

Instead of a specific game, Decentraland is an entire virtual world where players can do whatever they want. Like Minecraft, players can purchase real estate parcels, build houses, create items, and even clothes.

Naturally, everything in the game can be an NFT. Maybe you own a piece of land on the top of an active volcano, or you have a rare art piece hanging in your virtual home. You can auction and sell it to the highest bidder. Remember we mentioned bridging physical ownership of goods to the digital world? Well, Decentraland would be a perfect example of a platform that could support “digital-twin” wearables. You just bought a limited edition designer watch? Now you can wear it in the game.

Furthermore, Decentraland has its native cryptocurrency called MANA. Besides using it to buy items inside the game, players can use MANA to vote for changes in the game. Meaning, instead of being mere players, people can participate in how the world develops.

Decentraland is like an open-source, decentralized virtual world. Decentraland plans to allow players to create their games inside the world, form virtual communities, and even advertise.

For that to happen, Decentraland needs attention. The same goes for NFTs. It can be silly to think how a pixeled shirt can hit a 5-digit dollar value. But with enough eyes on it, anything can happen, and Decentraland is heading in the right direction.

The Sandbox

Like Decentraland, The Sandbox is a virtual world where players can build NFTs, buy and sell their NFTs, and create various gaming experiences for other players.

You can create unique and scarce NFTs on every step and have genuine ownership of a one-of-a-kind item.

The engine allows everybody to animate and design 3D objects such as people, animals, and countless other items. On top of that, players can use their NFTs and develop their 3D games inside the Sandbox metaverse.

This allows the players to sell their NFTs on the marketplace and advertise their games and earn additional income through the game’s popularity.

If you’re still not convinced, keep in mind that Sandbox has partnerships with some well-known names such as DeadMau5, Hell’s Kitchen, and Atari. They are also another player in the space that is bridging digital and physical worlds.

Cometh

Cometh goes back to old-school space games and takes them to a whole new level. You create or buy a spaceship (you guessed it, the spaceship is an NFT) and go on an adventure throughout the universe.

As you explore the space, you’ll stumble upon comets that you can mine for tokens. The stronger the ship, the faster you can mine. After you finish gathering resources, you can either trade them or use them to improve your ship and add more value.

Players are selling their ship NFTs on popular markets such as OpenSea. The most expensive spacecraft so far is Sunriser and it goes for 32.235 ETH.

Gods Unchained

For people who’re into card-trading games such as Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering, they will be glad to know that there’s a similar game, but with NFTs.

Like Axie Infinity, Gods Unchained prides itself on the “game that pays you to play” slogan. But unlike Axie Infinity, Gods Unchained is a card-trading game where you collect cards, create decks and take part in strategical 1-on-1 battles.

In every card-trading game, some cards are more valuable than others. If we go back to physical trading card games such as the initial Magic: The Gathering, cards like Black Lotus (Beta) from 1993 can fetch a price of $42,000.

Naturally, this wasn’t possible with video game cards because how could you prove the origin and rarity of a Black Lotus card designed and created in 1993? NFTs provide precisely that type of verification.

Every card in Gods Unchained is an NFT you can collect, exchange, or sell. Give the card a couple of years, and maybe you’ll be the owner of a digital card that’s as rare as Black Lotus.

Strawberry.wtf

Strawberry.wtf is a small but remarkable project that builds on early ’90s gaming nostalgia. It’s similar to big NFT avatars projects such as CryptoPunks and the Bored Ape Yacht Club, but with the gaming aspect added to it.

Although not available yet, you’ll be able to play simple 2D platforming games with gorgeous pixelated art that are reminiscent of the ’90s Gameboy games. And after 100% of sales on the platform, limited physical Gameboy and game cartridges will be released.

Besides exchanging and selling NFTs, players can also alter the games and provide a unique touch. Strawberry.wtf is a community project mixed with video games that can make a significant change in the world of gaming nostalgia with the right community.

Final Note

The gaming industry has been evolving rapidly in the last 30 years — from pixelated sprites to immersive graphics and gameplay. But up to now, games were nothing more than entertainment (unless we’re speaking of pro players).

It seems that video games, NFTs, and blockchain technology go hand-in-hand. About the same group of people interested in video games also have a knack for crypto and NFTs. With technology being gamified and now games being augmented technologically, the possibilities are endless. We’re personally interested to see how we can bring what we’re working on with our current clients to the gaming industry, and might even have a few pilot projects in the works.

Although there are many hurdles to overcome, mainly finding the balance between fun gameplay and earning money, gaming and NFTs will evolve in the upcoming years. The fuse has been lit. All that is left is for game and blockchain developers to show NFT gaming’s true potential.

What is a Blockchain Gaming Ecosystem?

What is a Blockchain Gaming Ecosystem?

Blockchain games, also known as crypto or NFT games, are those video games that contain elements based on blockchain technology. Blockchain games provide players with true ownership of in-game assets. In other words, unlike centralized games, assets (like skins, and in-game currency/points) in blockchain games can be traded for cryptocurrencies, which can further be converted into fiat money (real money that we use in our day-to-day lives). As you would have guessed, this opens up the possibility of video games becoming a second source of income for gamers. Prior to blockchain gaming, only gifted professional players or video game content creators were able to monetize their playtime. It might come as a surprise to a lot of people that blockchain technology was first conceptualized way back in 1991 by scientists, Stuart Haber and W. Scott Stornetta. However, even they would not have predicted that their technology would be reshaped by Satoshi Nakamoto to trigger a DeFi revolution, let alone monetize a leisurely activity such as gaming.

The blockchain gaming industry is expanding rapidly. According to Pitchbook data, the world saw a 280% rise in blockchain investment from 2017 to 2018. In 2019, Tron, a blockchain company, invested USD $100 million into their own blockchain gaming fund. In the same year, Ripple teamed up with Forte, a blockchain gaming company, to fund a USD $100 million project aimed at fusing blockchain and gaming. According to trends in investment data, it’s clear that quite a few big players in the blockchain game consider blockchain gaming to be the next big thing.

So… What’s the Big Deal?

Almost every centralized game features in-game assets that have to be earned by putting in a lot of hours into it. Yet, these coveted assets often do not have any real value outside of that particular game. Of course, there are underground markets for trading accounts for real currency on the internet. However, these markets are unofficial and not supported by the developers. Blockchain games, on the other hand, encourage gamers to make money off of their in-game skills. Do gamers make up? the global population. According to TechJury, the gaming industry would be worth well over $256 billion by 2025. With rapid technological developments such as VR and AR, the gaming experience is becoming almost indistinguishable from reality. The point is that gaming in itself is a lucrative activity. Adding the possibility of owning assets that are valuable in the real world only makes it more popular. That is exactly why a lot of studios are publishing blockchain games left and right. From industry giants such as Animoca Brands to Sky Mavis, a lot of players have claimed the blockchain gaming industry to be the future of video games.

Some Popular Blockchain Games

Here are some of the most popular blockchain games of 2022 that work on a play-to-earn model:

Silks

Silks is one of the best NFT P2E games of 2022. It’s a game about horse racing. A player can own a digital racehorse in Silk’s unique metaverse. This digital horse would itself be a tradeable NFT (Non-fungible token). Moreover, this game further blurs the line between the real world and its own metaverse, as the racehorses are based on real racehorses. If your twin horse wins a race in real life, you earn STT, which is the native token (cryptocurrency) of this game. You can use this cryptocurrency to buy in-game land, stables, and wager on races.

Cryptopop

One only needs three words to describe this game – Blockchain Candy Crush. Instead of gems and diamonds, however, this game uses symbols for various cryptocurrencies. If you get 10 points in a game, you earn 1 cryptopop. This P2E game is very popular due to its sheer simplicity. It’s recommended to anyone who’s new to P2E games. With Cryptopop, you can earn fairly large amounts of cryptocurrency quite easily.

Cryptokitties

This cute little NFT game allows players to own, breed, and sell virtual cats. This game is one of the most reputable open-source blockchains – Ethereum. You can use ETH tokens to make in-game purchases. So, if you’re a cat person, this is one P2E blockchain game that you must try!

Axie Infiniti

To play Axie Infiniti, you must buy three characters, also known as Axies. Your Axies, then, have to battle other players’ Axies in the Axie metaverse. Like in most blockchain games, all assets in Axie Infiniti are non-fungible tokens. Produced by the legendary studio, Sky Mavis, Axie Infiniti has taken the blockchain gaming world by storm.

These games are just the tip of the iceberg. There are a lot of other amazing P2E games on the market such as Gods Unchained, Splinterland, Alien Worlds, etc.

Turning Blockchain Gaming up a Notch

Now we get to the crux of the matter. We’ve established the fact that one can easily earn real money by investing time in P2E blockchain games. What, then, is a blockchain gaming ecosystem? Most crypto games are not a part of any blockchain ecosystem that is complete in itself. In other words, players who are able to make money with their skills in crypto games have to face a lot of hurdles to convert their winnings into fiat. These hurdles often result in the accumulation of high fees, as an individual has to deal with a lot of middlemen. A blockchain gaming ecosystem is a platform that features multiple games, native tokens, a marketplace to trade NFTs, a wallet, and NFT creation capability. It enhances the trading experience and integrates it with gaming. Such a comprehensive ecosystem eliminates all the middlemen. In fact, eliminating middlemen is the very basis of blockchain technology. OneTo11, the world’s first such comprehensive blockchain-based gaming ecosystem is exactly that.

Conclusive Remarks

The future of blockchain gaming is closely tied to the metaverse and multiverse. According to Jonathan Sterling, it is highly possible that the lines between various game universes may blur. The concept of Metaverse is already here. Sterling has termed it “a second life experience”, where an individual can exist through the avatar that they create. It would be a sort of the second world where a person can do whatever they want. What’s interesting is that the lines between various games can also become blurred. The implication of this is that in-game assets could be transferred from one game to another. The technical term for this phenomenon is Interoperability. Thus, if you ever get bored of one game, the assets you’ve earned in it will not go to waste.

Decentralization is the future, and the gaming industry will not remain untouched by it. In fact, research has shown that gamers tend to have a more positive outlook toward cryptocurrency than non-gamers. This could be due to their proximity to tech, and their ability to understand how cryptocurrencies actually work and what they promise.

NFTs in Gaming: A Deep Dive

NFTs in Gaming: A Deep Dive

Why do NFTs in games matter?

NFTs are essential to many of the most successful blockchain games of the past twelve months. Axie Infinity, Crabada, Cryptoraiders, and DeFi Kingdoms, to name a few, all rely on the use of NFT technology to function. At the peak of their valuations, the combined market cap of just these four games would be roughly $12B. This is impressive for a group of projects that have only existed in their current form for a maximum of one year, especially when comparing these valuations to legacy game developers’ ones. The total market capitalization for Ubisoft at writing is $7.2B, Corsair is $1.8B, and Atari is $110M.

It seems as though NFTs should be a natural fit. Gamers are already well versed in the core concepts of blockchain gaming: complex in-game economies, bartering and trade of virtual items, and the use of virtual currencies to acquire said items. Despite this latent understanding of the fundamentals of blockchain gaming, integration of NFTs into the business model of legacy game developers is not popular with the traditional gaming community. This lack of popularity doesn’t make sense to those in the blockchain and NFT gaming community. However, when you consider how legacy developers are suggesting NFTs be integrated into the gaming experience, the reasons for this resistance become crystal clear.

Grounded fears

Legacy developers are being seen to view NFTs as nothing more than another potential revenue stream, extracting even more value from their already disgruntled player base. Microtransactions and pay-to-unlock games have become the prevailing model in today’s gaming industry. It’s understandable, then, why gamers are resistant to implementing a technology that does nothing more than further entrench existing predatory practices.

Ubisoft Quartz is an excellent example of gamers’ fears realized. Critics quickly stated that the NFTs add nothing of value to the experience while simultaneously draining precious resources. Scalpers were also quick to buy up all of the Ghost Recon NFTs available at the launch of Quartz, relisting them with prices ranging from $634 to $423,000.

Couple these fears with growing environmental concerns around using Proof-of-Work blockchains as the backbone for much of the NFT movement, and it becomes easy to empathize with traditional gamers.

Web2 vs. Web3

At their core, these discussions around how NFTs can be implemented into games are a microcosm. They are representative of the coming battle between incumbent centralized entities and the decentralized future, or, Web2 vs. Web3. The core difference between Web2 and Web3 is in the distribution of benefits. Web2 entities centralize the benefits and extract value from the user, whereas Web3 entities distribute the benefits and empower the community.

The gaming world is going to look very different in the coming years. The concerns of traditional gamers are real and valid, and more has to be done to address them. It is the responsibility of the Web3 community to do this, and if that means encouraging gamers to move away from legacy platforms, then so be it.

Blockchain games are evolving in their complexity and appeal at lightning speed, and it won’t be long before legacy developers are seriously challenged. Platforms that make it easy for developers to build quality games first while leveraging the transformative power of blockchain technology, play-to-earn, and community-empowering NFTs will change everything. Web3 is coming, and legacy developers would do well to understand how and why this will happen.

By gamers, for gamers

NFTs have captured the world’s attention and brought the importance of community back to the forefront of the cultural zeitgeist. Cryptopunks and BAYC have shown that an engaged community can achieve far more in a short space of time than any Web2 company ever could. Blockchain games are evolving rapidly, delivering more value to gamers than Web2 business models would ever allow for.

Web3 is all about providing the community with the tools it needs to help its members grow into the best versions of themselves. This is something that GuildFi resonates with. Everything we do is to empower the gamer. For this very reason, GuildFi is a community-driven platform above anything and everything else. In the following few articles, we’ll be exploring how we as a platform believe Web3 technologies can be used to add to a gamer’s experience instead of monetizing it.

GuildFi is and always will be by gamers and gamers.
